Odd Object Lifting - Rocks
|
Stones, rocks, boulders, implements to scare the neighbors into submission…
|
Whatever you want to call them, they are probably the most ancient and pure test of strength around. They WERE the first weights and the first organized exercise implements of mankind.
Training with this is a thousands of years old tradition that was lost for much of what we would call modern history. The funny thing is that training with them today is just as valuable as it was 2000 years ago.
It's just as productive, just as pure, just as rugged and just as impossible to cheat.
In fact lifting the old manhood stones still garners the greatest respect among the truly strong today, maybe even more than it did hundreds of years ago.
Louis Cyr got famous for lifting heavy stones. It's something people still talk about as one of the top rungs of the lifting resume of Bill Kazmier. It was the initiation to manhood for men all across the world and the test for the worthiness of warriors and today's great strongmen are still testing themselves the same way.
Lifting heavy stones is a basic test of manhood all across the world and they are truly man makers, because no matter what else you do, the stone doesn't lie.
You either lift it or you don't.
And almost nothing else will help you do it. Just you and the stone. Proving and building a better man. A stronger man.
You see in the modern mess of machines and weights and all the different ways to avoid hard work or camouflage weakness, stones remain the same. Lifting equipment doesn't help and there isn't any way to make it more padded or less difficult.
Because of the unyielding, unchanging, powerful quality of stones, they build the toughest men.
That's why I lift them.
That's why you should too.
I've done every kind of strength training you can do and stones are probably one of the most rewarding of everything I've ever done. I could already lift massive barbells when I started training with stones, but if I had it to do over again, I would have started training with stones right along side of those barbells in the beginning. Even though I had years of training experience, when I began to lift stones, I began to see weaknesses and as I kept lifting I began to see those weaknesses disappear.
My strength went to a whole new level. Not just in lifting the stones, but in applying the strength I had built in every day life and in lifting barbells.
I believe that lifting these implements actually added to my normal strength, not just supplemented it.
They give me a feeling of walking-around-strong.
Of a rugged and immortal type of strength that men have craved since the beginning.
They build real strength and endurance but better than that they toughen you up and we can all use that.
Plus they give you a true test of strength and a connection to those who've gone before us that I believe is truly important.
This ain't new, but it sure works. And it kicks butt! Lots of it.
People have been doing this forever and they still keep getting stronger. No matter how new fangle and fancy your training is if you can't pick up these rocks it ain't workin'. I don't care if you ARE getting bigger or curling more, or seeing the best six-pack you ever had.
That crap all goes out the window when you put it on the line against a heavy stone.
The Greeks did it. So did the Russians. The Chinese, the Shaolin, the Japanese, the Mongolians, the Polynesians, the Romans, the Hindus, the Icelanders, Scandinavians, Native Americans, and the Scots. Everybody throughout the history of man has built and tested their men with lifting huge stones. Why aren't you doing it?
Get out of the padded gym and see what you've really got. See what all that training has done for you.
Be honest enough to see where you need to improve and keep picking up those stones until you do.
Until you can stand with men from any age of the world.
Proudly, as an equal.
We made these videos and this one especially because we really want to build stronger men. That's why we chose this sites name.
Stronger in mind
Stronger spirit

Then we actually get after it and start lifting some stones.
This video is like the rest of ours, it ain't all talk, there's some real work going on. See I figure you can't learn about a manly sport like stone lifting unless you learn from somebody who is actually doing it.
So a partner and me do some real lifting.
How about this, I clean and press a 250-pound rectangular stone and a 250 pound round stone.
I shoulder a 250-pound round stone Hindu Style 10 times.
Press a 210 stone for 10 reps.
As well as lifting a 320lb triangle, a 300+lb cube, etc.
My partner Mike, at 185lbs, and 18 years old, loads a 250lb round stone on a barrel for 4 reps. Takes a 320lb triangle for a walk and generally lifts just about all the other stones too.
We finish off with a little game of stone tag, lifting all of the stones in a variety of different ways just to finish the day.
Oh and I almost forgot, I lift and carry an over 500lb Husefelt-style (triangular), stone. Over FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS! (You'll see when you see this video what we're talking about. The thing is chest high on me standing up and wider than I am. It's "friggin' huge." You'll get that joke too.)
And don't think you have to spend a ton of money on stones. We improvised or liberated ours from local construction sites or just the plain old outdoors.
Nowhere else can you find a course that is this complete.
In fact I even say it on the video. "If you train with nothing but stones, but pushed yourself to world-class in lifting them you'd be as strong as anyone on the planet."
That's enough convincing you and enough sales talk. This isn't for everybody, because it takes real work and you gotta want it… BAD!
If you can't see the value here, a complete program of the most man-building exercises every created with the most rugged implement and over 50 exercises then you're just not GOING to get it.
It's simple enough and there's enough beginner information that anybody could use this regardless of your strength level. It's not about your physical ability. That's what we're trying to build, but many people just aren't going to start lifting stones, because it's tough. It makes YOU scary tough!
But that's alright with me. The hard is what makes it great. And I like being in a fraternity with the strongest men who ever lived.
